The Baby Name Suggestion Thread

I thought we should have a localized place for baby name suggestions, so here it is. Post your name suggestions here.

Stephen: I'm going to suggest a name, Kirby!
Maggie: That's a terrible name!
Stephen: I think it's great! What about Kirkland?
Maggie: I like Kirk better, I like short names.
Stephen: But long names can be short names.
Maggie: What about Edmund? They like Ed. You've got to go with short names, they're better.

  1. Ha! Excellent! Keep them coming. ANYTHING is better than Ben's "Chamber" obsession! :)

  2. Name-of-the-day: Brynn (it's a Welsh name for "Hill" !!! Wooo we have a winner!)

    Ben + Erin = Brynn

    Problem solved.

  3. I interviewed a kid named Eben a few weeks ago.

    Ben + Erin = Eben.

We've got you covered for either a boy or a girl!

As for a boy name, I've always been a fan of Edwin. It's like Edward but more unique.

As for naming conventions, I am kind of a fan of bringing old names back. Not old in the sense that you're going to have a grandma baby, but maybe from that previous generation before where the names didn't carry on. I think it would give the individual the sense that he or she belongs to a longer history than just right now.

The challenge of course is to be unique without being too unique. Or I wouldn't be worried about being too unique, but I'm sure more considerate parents would be. One thing I hate, though, is people who pick the most popular names for that generation. I understand why they do it, I've known so many Ryans, Mikes, Jessicas, Megans, and Emilys in my life it has been crazy. I can hardly keep them straight in my head.
